Watercolour are the ‘heart and soul’ for Paresh Maity, India’s renowned artist who over the period of 2 decades has achieved proficiency in various mediums – be it paper, canvas, sculptures, oils, mixed media, or other mediums, he creates magic.
Born in 1965 at Tamluk – a small town in West Bengal, Paresh has mastered the technique of oil paintings at Govt. College of Art, Kolkatta.
Paresh believes in rediscovering the charm, flavour, and magic of India in his paintings. From Sand dunes of Rajasthan to Kerala backwaters, the canals of Venice, the Himalayan heights of Himachal Pradesh, the serene Ghats of Varanasi, Ajanta-Ellora, and the lake of Geneva, he has captured art from every nook and corner of the world.
For Paresh, working with ceramics has been a grounding experience and he believes he is a ‘patient’ artist – thereby cultivating his art, and always let’s light dictate everything he does.
His works are in the collection at British Museum in London, Rubin Museum, New York, Commonwealth Institute, London, the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, Vatican Embassy, and various other institutions across the globe.
